Protecting Our Students from H1N1, "Swine Flu"

Talisman Camps and Programs considers the health and safety of our students to be our number one priority. We understand that your child's safety is paramount to you as well. Due to the fact that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has declared a public health emergency related to the recent incidence of Swine Flu cases in the U.S. and Mexico, and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has determined that the Swine Flu is contagious and can spread from human to human, we have implemented new policies and procedures to protect our students from an H1N1 or "Swine Flu" outbreak.

Talisman Camps and Programs has taken the following measures to help prevent an outbreak of H1N1:

We have educated all staff and students on Preventative Guidelines
We have educated all staff on Swine Flu Emergency Warning Signs
We have hung posters from the Department of Health to remind staff and students of the prevention tips for Swine Flu.
If symptoms are noted upon admission/enrollment, we will not allow the student in the general population until cleared by a healthcare provider.
We are closely monitoring all students coming back from home visits.
We are discouraging any non-essential business travel to known outbreak clusters of the disease such as Mexico City.
We are staying on top of news updates regarding Swine Flu outbreaks and will communicate regularly within our organization to keep staff up to date on the facts, and with parents should any suspicion of an outbreak occur.

We believe knowing the facts about the signs, symptoms and prevention of H1N1 will help us avoid an outbreak, however we have created the following Action Plan should one occur:

We have devised and rehearsed a continuity plan.
We have implemented procedures for isolating a potential outbreak, including establishing a quarantine room if necessary.
