Do you have the "Pre-Camp Jitters?"

Don't worry, you are not alone. It is not unusual for parents of children with special needs to have some nervousness as their child embarks on a new experience. Whether it is the first day of school, the first trip to a friend's house for a sleepover, or the first day of camp, a healthy dose of "Parent Jitters" can be normal and even healthy. But these concerns are only healthy if this nervous energy is directed towards strategies that can empower your child to grow, while at the same time addressing your needs as a parent.

As a family centered summer camp program, Talisman has a number of strategies that are designed to support this transition. If you would like to know more about how we support the transition on our end, feel free to call us at 888.458.8226. As a parent, you may be saying to yourself "I know that summer camp is a chance for my child to grow. But what can I do to prepare myself and to prepare my child?"

To answer this, Talisman presents live "Pre-Camp Webinars" to empower families to get the most out of their summer camp experience. These live, interactive webinars are facilitated by experienced full time staff. They are chalk-full of information about the camp experience and the best way to prepare yourself, your family, and your child for the experience. Beyond this information, they also afford parents the opportunity to connect with other parents, exchange practical tips, and to ask staff important questions. Talisman provides these webinars free of cost to all enrolled families.

Read what a parent thought of our pre-camp webinar:

Just wanted to let you know that the webinar was very helpful in putting my mind more at ease. I know that my daughter will be well taken care of and that you are well trained to handle the little issues that will come along. Aaron said yesterday that caring and compassion along with discipline is the context in which you operate. This is her first camp and I am impressed with your thoroughness in the planning and the guidance and information you give to parents. We are looking forward to meeting everyone at camp on opening day.
